During the next two weeks, I will travel for vacation, celebrate, and do all of the activities that I enjoy:  throw off the bowlines, catch the trade winds, explore, dream, discover.

To you, and all whom you hold dear, a Merry Christmas and joyful holidays.

“It should be Christmas Day, I am sure on which one drinks the health of such odious, stingy, hard, unfeeling men as …”
Your mild reply: “My dear friend…Christmas Day.”
Merry Christmas to one and all.

I've been asked, nay commanded, to thank Thee Lord for the Christmas goose before us... a goose which was no doubt a lively, intelligent bird... a social being... capable of actual affection... nuzzling its young with almost human- like compassion. Anyway, it's dead and we're gonna eat it. Please give our respects to its family...

Merry...

"A lovely thing about Christmas is that it's compulsory, like a thunderstorm, and we all go through it together."

Gesegnete Weihnachten-

Komm in unsre stolze Welt,
Herr mit deiner Liebe Werben.
Überwinde Macht und Geld,
lass die Völker nicht verderben.
Wende Hass und Feindessinn
auf den Weg des Friedens hin.

Komm in unser reiches Land,
der du Arme liebst und Schwache,
dass von Geiz und Unverstand
unser Menschenherz erwache.
Schaff aus unserm Überfluss
Rettung dem, der hungern muss.

Komm in unsre laute Stadt,
Herr, mit deines Schweigens Mitte,
dass, wer keinen Mut mehr hat,
sich von dir die Kraft erbitte
für den Weg durch Lärm und Streit
hin zu deiner Ewigkeit.

Komm in unser festes Haus,
der du nackt und ungeborgen.
Mach ein leichtes Zelt daraus,
das uns deckt kaum bis zum Morgen;
denn wer sicher wohnt vergisst,
dass er auf dem Weg noch ist.

Komm in unser dunkles Herz,
Herr, mit deines Lichtes Fülle;
dass nicht Neid, Angst, Not und Schmerz
deine Wahrheit uns verhülle,
die auch noch in tiefer Nacht
Menschenleben herrlich macht.

Silence/Stille
This is my Christmas Dream-
I manage a worldwide bad news blackout.
All broadcast stations are in a panic.
At the stations, the phones ring off the hook.
“Where are the dead bodies, where are the bad economic numbers?”
Viewers demand to know.
CBS, NBC and ABC call emergency meetings, ratings are slipping by the second.
The “National Intruder” suspects a plot of worldwide peace loving elements.
News stations outdo each other in wild speculation.
Experts are consulted to analyze the drastic situation.
CNN streams live updates ”nothing to report, please stay tuned!”
Next morning the ratings are published-
the highest in broadcast history.
